Hexad Careers: What motivated you to join this organization, and how has your role evolved since then?
Omor: I joined Hexad in 2021 as a Product Manager while I was looking to explore a new industry or a new market. Having previously worked in the Banking, Insurance and FinTech space, I thought it would be an interesting challenge for me to work on products from other sectors. So when I found the job posting for a Product Manager at Hexad and the role was to work in the automotive industry, I applied. And since my joining, I have worked on 3 different products which involve functionalities like: Vehicle activation system, Transactional business logics, and Vehicle parts production planning & monitoring. It has been a great two-and-half years so far for me, as I have learned new frameworks and technologies used in the automotive world.
Hexad Careers: Could you describe your team’s structure, including the size and roles of your team members?
Omor: I lead an Agile team of 6 members. Two Backend Developers, two Frontend Developers, one Product Designer and myself being the Product Manager for the team. This is an Agile delivery team that is focused on one product throughout the delivery of features on the product roadmap.
Hexad Careers: What specific product or services does your team work on or support?
Omor: The product my team currently work on is a data processing and visualization solution on AWS cloud. it serves as a comprehensive planning and monitoring shop floor IT application with dashboards, alarms, and fault controls functionalities. This cloud application analyzes, processes and stores the data from our customer’s pressing plants at a central point in order to carry out targeted evaluations.
Hexad Careers: Could you share any notable projects or accomplishments related to the product that you’ve been involved in?
Omor: We delivered a robust Proof of Concept in 3 months for the current product I am working on, and went ahead to deliver the 1st MVP about 6 months later. The client is extremely happy and did testify that this is the first time they have worked with a company that is fast on delivery and very experienced in new cloud-based technologies.
Hexad Careers: In what ways has Hexad supported your career progression and how do you like it here ?
Omor: The Products I have been assigned since joining the company are from ideas to launch. This has really helped improved my skillsets as a 0-1-n Product Manager. I have also been given the opportunity to mentor junior Product Managers in the company and helped provide frameworks and tools useful to enhance product management processes even in other teams.
Hexad Careers: Based on your experience, what advice or recommendations would you offer to individuals who are interested in pursuing a similar career path within the organization?
Omor: Product Management is an art and not science. An art in the regard that no two days are similar in the life of a Product Manager. This mean that you will always have to adapt to the events of the day. I will recommend that anyone who wants to pursue a career in product management, here at Hexad or anywhere else, needs to grow their soft skills e.g stakeholders management, thinking outside the box etc, because you will need them all the time to complement the core skills needed to get the job done.
